Week 45 and, in case you’re wondering, being “behind” isn’t bothering me one bit. This week covers November 11-17, and even though I’m actually assembling the spread weeks later, I can still have an in-depth spread because I’ve already done the documentation. There are times in my life when I won’t have time to edit and print photos. There will be times when I can easily knock out five of these sorts of spreads in a week. The goal is to get a spread done every week, but I’m not worried about not running current. I’ll just use those “bust it out” weeks to make the spreads for the weeks that were too crazy to work on.
When the Seafoam Project Life kit arrives on my front door (they should be available so so soon!!!), I’ll start on 2013 and then I’ll go back and finish up 2012 as I have time.
As I said, my documentation for 2012 is done! This week is really word-heavy, and I have those details available thanks to my November Daily Doc workshop. It’s free and still available if you want documentation prompts and tips! In fact, I’ve been getting in so many details with my daily doc workshops that I can’t fit all of that into into Project Life. I’m starting a minibook for random bits of life that don’t really fit into my people-focused Project Life. I love that I have a lot of details about the week that I would have forgotten if I hadn’t taken the time to write as well as photograph what was happening as it happened.
The first page in the spread is just lots of daily stuff. Some good family portraits, a few Instagram collages (I cut little strips of paper to go in between the rows so I could write captions), and Jonas lovin’ up on some hot chocolate. There’s some good stuff in there: a photo of the pizza peel I made with Poppy (my grandpa), the acquisition of our new lens, and the kids playing together (always my favorite).
I made a 6 x 12 insert page to document the Dropkick Murpheys concert I went to with my friend Harvey. The photos are all crummy Instagrams, but I love them. I also included my ticket (paperclipped on) and a flier for the show. I made sure to choose a light background so I could fill pretty much the whole thing with the words I wrote the night after the show.
I also forgot to mention that these photos are from CVS. I was really impressed with the quality, but we have a brand-new CVS, so their photo equipment is all shiny and awesome. I will note that I do hate their photo uploading / ordering program. I’m planning on doing a side-by-side comparison of the same photo from a few different companies within the next few weeks, so we’ll see how these compare next to home-printed and Persnickety photos soon!
Jake’s sister Savannah. Threw in some thicker embellishments, which aren’t getting as much love since this whole PL thing started.
The last page is super simple. From right to left, top to bottom: Eliza and Jonas snuggling together, me tutoring Jake’s cousin Emily in economics, a decorative page with descriptions of what’s going on in each photo (I’m loving those SMASH labels), hanging out with our friends Tiffany and Burt, hanging out at Jake’s Dad’s (that’s his stop-mom Rita, whom the kids call “Abba”, his Dad, and his little brother Corbin).
I’m going to go start on Week 47 now! Expect that and a post on the plan for 2013 soooon!
